New heel guards

yeah, Mudstud, you're right. I couldn't figure out an easy way to make that bolt actually go through the aluminum with that angle there. The two bolts do allow it to rotate some, but the angle of the heelguard matches the back of the peg close enough that when you put weight on the outside edge of the heelguard it presses against the back of the peg and can't move any more.
In my final cardboard heelguard, I had it designed to use both original peg mounting bolts. It came straight back from the bottom of the peg, though, and had no drop. I didn't think that was a safe design so I scratched out a new plan to include a one inch drop just before I went out to buy the aluminum.
Also, the part that bolts to the bottom of the peg fits tightly against the peg supports on the inboard side and wedges into the little tabs that drop down out near the ends of the pegs. (I hope that made some sense.) You actually have to slide the heelguard in from the back to get it to fit, you can't just put it up to the bottom of the peg. By having it slide in and fit tight, it will actually stay in place without any fasteners at all.
We'll see how these hold up after a few rides, and hopefully a few years. Snake Hunt will probably be their first time out, and I can't wait!!

Hey Bigben the heelguards I had at snakehunt were IMS. They list for 149.99 but I got them from Motorsports outlet for 79.99 and they look great. They dont flex or rub. They are made to install with the Roll Design pegs but you can make them work. I love them.

www.motosport.com I found them looking in a dirt wheels. April 2003 has an ITP section in the middle with a baja that has them on it.
