Default Part Number for Starter O-Ring / oil leak at starter o-ring

Anyone have the part number for the Starter O-Ring? I am getting some oil leaking and my dealer cannot seem to find the part number.

Check out My Page for a picture of it. (F650 FAQ says to replace each time you pull the starter. I may end up at the BMW dealer.)

(Anyone else run into this issue?)

I also have a leak at the counter sprocket - Thing is a bit messy after each trip.

I have a big oil leak somewhere I haven'nt had time to find it yet but its a bad one, so hopefully it will be easy to find, Also I think I need to chance my countersprocket baering also, can this be done from the outside???(please say yes)

I now Roostinonyou has just replaced his starter O-ring. I will call him and ask what he did to fix it, and if he has a part#.

you can get the o-ring at the hardware store, if they carry metric rings. best not to try and use an inch ring in its place.
Bigger - I don't think you can swap that bearing without splitting cases.

Sorry to say this, but finally, someone has this damn problem besides me.

I've changed my o-ring a dozen times and haven't been able to get it to stop!

If you EVER find a solution PLEASE let me know what it is.

It's been leaking for over a year now!

Funny, we both have the same size piston!

Bigger, Don has changed my counter shaft seal twice now and has never had to split the cases. At least not for that!

Yea - common Al

Did you get the O-ring from the dealer? (If so, do you have the part number? )

Thanks.

I'll have to take a look at my buddies DS. Hate to pull his starter out if he hasn't had an issue but, I would love to see if I can figure out why mine is leaking and his isn't.

when i did mine i niticed that the starter would go in real easy after the new o ring, it was real tight. if you can't find one i can run by the local shop and get one in the mail to you. they said it is a common part for ski-doo starters so if you see any water craft or snowmoblies there might be a spare part in the back.
