Default Can't seem to loosen the axle nut

I want to take my alxe out so I can put a new bolt to hold on my skid plate. I took out the bolt that tightens the clam shell bolt and I couldn't get it to move. What am I doing wrong. Looking at the threads in the forum, I need to tighten it toward the caliper, remove the clip, then loosen it off to slide the axle toward the sprocket side. Is this correct.
Also, if you are looking for a new swing arm guard, get the Pro-Armor, it stood up to way more punishment than the others I've had.

Yes that is correct. However as I recall the brake hub is in there perty good. So you have to grab the rotor at oposite ends and pull and rotate/wiggle quite a bit to get it to back out. I even ended up using a rubber mallet and had to tap on the rotor as I spun it. But be carfull to not bend the rotor if you do use a mallet. Good luck

What did you use to move the axle nut? I put a pipe wrench on it and it didn't budge.

The old pipe wrench will work. You are probably just turning it the wrong way

When I did mine I had no idea what I was doing and tried to turn it one way then finally tried the other way. Ahhh came right off.

You don't need to remove your axel to get the guard on. Just remove the brake a bit so you can get to those bolts and you are good.

left hand threads - think of it backwards
it shouldn't be very tight, strap wrench is all that should be needed so you don't gouge it all up with the pipe wrench.
Bigger is refering to the wheel hub nut, which you would have to remove on the right side if you were completely removing the axle

Oops! Hightower is correct I was talking about the axle hub nut and not the axle nut by the brake rotor.
