Well I did it

OK, 8 to 10 miles an hour, now I know why they have the checkup set at 10 hours or 150 miles.
For the more experienced riders.
We have a ways to go..
We spent quite a lot of time on the hill going at a crawl.

The inner plug usually gives a better reading. I think it is in a better location in the head where the outer one doesn't really see what is really going on.
As for the oil change I usually bleed the oil just because I want all the old stuff out.
Also, check your screen (located in the hose coming out of the bottom of the oil tank. You have to unscrew the connection and pull that fitting out. That thing can get nasty.
You are right NOT to start your engine until you get the red light off (while cranking.) You need to develop oil pressure prior to starting the engine.

thanx for the info, i have not checked the oil screen but it sounds like i need to. Since this oil change wansnt that bad, i will probably change it again really soon and pull it out to check it.
As for the mileage, ive probably whent about 4 or 5 tanks. So if im supposed to get about 30 miles on a tank...ouch!! LOL

olefin,
Also remember that your Traxter isn't designed for racing around like the DS is. I have a feeling that is why for the Traxter they give your hours and mileage. At slower speeds, it could take a LONG time to get to 150 miles, however you could spend ALOT of high RPM hours to do it which is a more truthful statement about how much use an engine has had.
I certainly wouldn't worry about keeping up in mileage with the DSs - it isn't too tough to cover 100 miles in a really good day of riding. I’ve heard stories of groups of people on Utility quads spending a whole day tromping over seemingly impossible terrain & only going a couple of mines at the end of the day.
The last & only time I went to Glamis about a dozen of us went out for a ride which turned out to be about six hours! That is a true testament to the comfort of the Bombardier - I can't imagine riding on any other machine I've ever owned for six hours & not having a sore butt.

We had thought riding an ATV would have made us a little sore, especially at our age. Not true, the first day we both rode it for 4 hours. Couldn't believe the smooth ride over pastures that will almost bounce you off a tractor. The seat comfort for driver or passenger is great... Trax Max... almost the ride of a Lincoln.
