Every time I try to kickstart my 150 atv it takes about a half-hour to start it. What causes this?
Does anybody know how to fix it? Today I just threw it on its side and gave up. Is it the
spark plug? Thanks for any replies.

If you need the specs and the procedures on how to adjust your valves download this manual. It is for a buggy that has the gy6 in it. It will save you a lot of time and questions later on. Manual
Make sure when go to adjust your valves that the motor is cold. Do not run the engine before you adjust the valves.
The manual also has a diagram of your carb just in case you forget how to put it back together.

It's not the plug or cleaning the carb. it's the carb itself, the 150 models have an electric choke and they are a royal pain. The only fix is to get another type 150 carb with a pump on it,so that every time you hit the fuel it pumps gas in like cars use to be.You can find these carbs. allover and cheep. If you want a new carb. get a jetmoto carb. and cable and your fixed. The jetmoto ones cost about $75 and they are made in japan.Roketa 150's are also the same,so you can go either route.

You are wrong, the 150cc gy6 ATV's do not all come with the electric bystarter systems installed on them. My 150 had the manual cable installed. I did not need to replace my carb. I did have to do a carb cleaning if the quad sat for a couple of months. But I did not need a carb replacement. The carb replacement is a last resort if all else fails. Going with a Japanese carb is the way to go when replacement is needed. No need to replace crap with more crap.
Man this is an old post.
