Default 2004 Redcat 50cc vs New Meerkat 50cc

My brother bought a 2004 Redcat 50 about 4 months ago for $500. The person he bought it from had a title with the bike (MKX-50) and on there it showed that he paid $900 for it back in 2004. Knowing nothing about where this bike was made I told him that if he ever wanted to sell it let me know because I wanted to get one for my daughter. Well now he's getting a divorce and he's ready to sell. I've been doing a little research and now I'm thinking my brother got screwed for paying $500 for a bike he can buy brand new for $525. Here are my questions.

1. Should I even consider buying this bike from my brother or should a buy a new one. He of course wants $500 for it, since his kids never actually rode it.

2. Are the Redcats and Meerkats the same quads. I read elsewhere that they were but I just want to verify that information.

3. Are the 2007 Meerkat models out and can I get one in Pink. Does raceway sell a pink helmet

Welcome to the forums Linear. To answer your question, your brother did overpay a little for the used Redcat, but if it brought plenty of smiles to his kids' faces, then it was worth it. I wouldn't recommend you pay 500$ for it though when you can get a brand new Meerkat from Raceway for 25 dollars more and get THE BEST in customer service that you will ever see before and after the sale. The Redcat and Meerkats are in essence the same quad with slightly different plastics and you can get both in pink. You can also get pink helmets from Raceway as well. Visit www.racewayatv.com and click on riding gear at the top of the page. They have a good selection of youth helmets.

Redcat no longer has that 50 (it was they same as Kazuma plastic and all). They now have the mpx50.

Yeah the MPX-50 is what I was comparing the Meerkat to. Same everything except plastic.
