Default A Couple Questions about Jetmotos

Well my girlfriend is about 5'8" and 105 lbs. (I swear she eats more than I do!) so the 150 should fit her perfectly.

I've been looking at the pictures of them and have a couple more questions:

1. Is the engine on the 150 from a scooter? It looks very compact compared to the 250.

2. What is the second mounting hole on the bottom of the front shock mount for? To make the front end sit lower and wider?

3. Does it have hi/low beam headlights? Are they bright enough to ride at night?

4. Is there any storage or room to stash a water bottle under the seat?

Sorry for all the questions, I want to know what I'm getting myself into before buying it.

1. The 150 engine is of a Honda copy and is used on most all Chinese 150's regardless of brand. From what I have noticed in my research it's pretty much bullet proof!
2. Not sure what that hole is for!
3. I have not rode at night but from what I can tell is that the lighting pretty much sucks! First off it is aimed about 4ft in front of the front bumper on the ground, and does not shine up to see where your going. And no there is no Hi beam!
4. Would be nice but no the plastic has a nice hole where the box should and could have been but there is no bottom. I think you could make a bottom and make it usable but the way it is it is unusable to haul anything!

I wouldn't consider the 150.

Changing a sprocket isn't a big deal. I think it's just 3 bolts. Find a friend with a socket set. Raceway will give you jets and sprockets for no extra charge (they are insanely inexpensive.)

Hop ups are very little. I'm going to be working with some people on things, but I need to take the motor appart to do so, which I'm not going to do for a long time. I *might* *possibly* get a C&C guy I met to do a lighter rod with high quality steel. I will also do a little porting and a ton of polishing on the intake manifold.

I don't know if I would advise it, but there are a ton of nitrous kits available that would work. I think the cheapest ones we could use would be one that comes with a fuel pump. Look to spend $800 to get it up and running if you install yourself.

Fuel economy on these things is insane. 1-2 gallons is normal for 250s and runtimes would be nuts. Don't think that your going to have a gas can strapped to your back.

Pimpsurf, why wouldn't you get the 150? (We are considering it.)

Definitely not. It had enough power and nice racks, but it did not start easliy in the winter, had a very rough ride, was difficult to shift gears (and the gearshift bolt came undone), and you could really feel the engine and tire vibrations on pavement (so much that it became uncomfortable - it was like riding a vibrator!).

I would not buy it again. If I went with a maniland China bike in that size, I'd probably go with the Jetmoto 150.

We may, however, spend the extra money and get an Eton Vector 250 - in my opinion the best 250 on the market - bar none. (Note that the Can-Am DS 250 is made by Eton, but costs more and does not have the features of the Vector 250.)

I've been out of town for 2 days. Sorry for the slow reply.

I wouldn't get it because it's not a 250. Thats it! The 07 Jetmoto has better shocks, motor, everything. I would definately get a 250 unless the price was a deal breaker.

OK, thanks, Pimpsmurf. The nice thing about the 150 is it is big enough for my wife, and yet still small enough for my 9 year-old daughter to throw around as well (when little friends come up who ride her AC DVX 50). Power would never be an issue, as the Eton Viper 90 has enough (except for one time when my wife was going thru really sticky mud, up a fairly steep incline).
