what does that bolt do in there????</end quote></div>
There is a piece of 2" round by 5" long pipe in the axle housing. This pipe slides over the axle and fits in between the end bearings. The bolt tightens into the pipe. I have no idea what the bolt does. All I can figure is it is some type of crude friction brake. The pipe rubs right on the axle if you tighten it down. The axle is hard to turn, take it out and it is easier. Or it is a bearing support. It could give them just enough tension to keep the steal bearings from eating away at the aluminum housing when side forces try to froce the bearings into the housing.
I dunno! I build Jeeps not ATVs, lol.

It is more likely a bearing support. That explains why there is a nut on it. It was tuned to slide over the pipe, but not press into it. Still, I wonder if we will have problems with this? I'm going to check mine and see if it's too tight now. I don't think I've been feeling any drag brake.
Also, is anyone noticing the front brakes being unable to lock up, even on loose soil? Maybe this is a case of "It's a feature, not a bug!" but I would like a little more braking power on the front. Is there anything I can do to aid in this? Is it possible they need to be bled? I can't pull the brake lever back very far, and with the parking brake engaged, I can push the quad without much trouble and the tires will roll, not skid even in sand.

The hole in the axle carrier is for turning the axle to tighten the chain. I asked Eugine at Jetmoto along time ago about it. When he went to the factory to look at the axle design they just had a hole there and he said they put the bolt there just for looks. When you loosen the two axle bolts you can take out the bolt and stick a punch in there to help turn the axle. I took out my bolt and put a allen head flush plug in mine. If you loosen your axle bolts to tighten your chain throw away your old bolts and get some ss bolts to replace them with. Also dont overtighten them or you will put too much preload on your wheel bearings.
