My sons atv starts and idles great when u ride it to the end of the driveway it dies then when u wait a half hour it starts and idles great again when it dies it sounds like its getting to much air...i noticed there is a black wire that broke off from somewhere but cant find where it went too it comes from the little black box under the seat.... any help would be greatly appreciated

 

that little black wire is for your remote im betting.. antenna wire...
Sounds like its starving for fuel. If it has a fuel shut off drain the fuel and remove. They have a little screen on the back that can get plugged. If that does not fix it you will have to tear into the carb next and make sure float level is correct.
