I am at my wits end with the smoke coming from this quad. At start, it smokes a little...... average I would say. After I take the thing for a ride, its like a bomb went off in my driveway. I drove it up the street tonight and the whole neighborhood was a big cloud of smoke. It seems like after it warms up the smoke gets a lot worse. This is opposite from any 2 stroke I have every had. Before I get crazy and remove the oil injection system, what can I check and/or adjust tat hasn't been discussed? I was thinking of using Lucas 2 stroke oil as it is "smokeless". Does anyone have any experience with this oil?

This forum has been extremely helpful and I really appreciate everyone's help.

Does it have a two wire throttle cable? If so, have you checked that the oil throttle isn't stuck wide open?

It could still be old oil that has leaked into the exhaust. I once rebuilt a 125cc 4 stroke Suzuki that was using more oil than fuel. Piston had broken round the oil ring. Rebore + oversize piston fixed that, but it still smoked bad. Took it for a ride, but by 1 mile still smoking, so turned round and back to workshop, still smoking bad, couldn't still be old oil burning in the exhaust, could it? Tried the bike the next day, no smoke, it had just been burning oil which had accumulated in the exhaust.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their help and guidance. I finally had a day without the kids being home and was able to get this sorted. The carb and throttle cables were adjusted. I reduced the oil pump cable slightly as I was afraid that bringing it back to much could cause trouble. I also switched to a "smokeless oil". After running the hell out of it for an hour or so the smoke has reduced to what I would call a normal level. I think that the throttle cable for the oil pump would get stuck at full throttle. After cleaning, adjusting and using the quad the problem seams to have disappeared. On to replacing the brakes!
