There is a small black box under the left side of the seat. It has red , blue, black, and gray wires connected to a small white connector then there is a long black wire that is not connected to anything.
This is my question. Can anyone tell me what will cause this part to melt? I also need to know what this part is. I think it may be the remote kill switch but I'm not sure. Also, does the single black wire need to be connected to anything?
I really need help with this so I can get it running for my grandson.

Sounds like the remote kill switch... Hard to tell by the pic's but with the description sounds about right
