Hey,
The collar bone is healing well.
I am thinking about going with some new tires. I ruined one of them on a stump that punctured the sidewall. I know Trailride and BigTex have some aftermarket tires. Do you guys like them and what kind are they? I have been looking at the ITP Mudlites. What do you guys think of those as an all around use tire? Any suggestions would be apreciated. See you guys out there again soon!!

Jimmy,
Glad to hear the arm is healing up! I have a set of Mud Lites & I can't complain. They are (very) agressive and are a bit rough on pavement and tear the hell out of the yard. I would suggest any radial & ATV Television suggests the Holeshot ATR as a close to stock tread, but radial performance. I suggest watching ATVTelevision (Outdoor Channel Monday 3:00 p.m.) because they do tire tests all the time. You Might also want to check out null and go to product reviews.
On a different note: Did nobody like any of the 5 ideas?

Jimmy,
I have the 27" mudlites, they are a good tire for mud, but i ride most of the time in sand and hardpack. I would rather have gone with a set of 25" Maxxis Bighorn Radials . This is a nice all around tire . Might give them a look.

Brent,
That Big Horn is a pretty good looking all around tire. It is a little pricey, but I think a radial is a better tire so it would probably be worth the extra cash. Thanks for the input! I am still trying to locate a replacement for the Carlisle Badland XTR that is on it. Hopefully someone has replaced their stock tires and has a spare somewhere. I bid on 2 on ebay but got beat at the last second, Damnit!!

Jimmy,Brent, and Jason, BUT not Big Tex...
What tires should I get for the Honda Rancher? ( NO wise cracks about how I will have to learn how to ride, before I can get good tires.) You guys know the type of riding we do. I want something that will keep up with Big Tex and Jason, But is still comfortable for Ginny when she is riding. I think the 26" Mudlites will do the trick, but I don't know anything about any of the other tires even after watching ATV TV. ( which by the way is one of Ginnys favorite shows when she sees it)
Jimmy
BTW we are glad you are up and about. You should come to Texas and ride on the Red River.

Gordon,
I will be ready to ride in about 2 more weeks the Doc says. I am doing much better. Take a look at those Maxxis Big Horn Radials that Brent was talking about. They dont look quite as aggressive, but look like a great tire! They will probably be my next tire purchase.

G,
I would do some shopping at some of the dealerships before buying. I like the Mud Lites for me, but I don't think Ginny would appreciate the ride (It's kind of tractor like) on hard packed ground and roads. You might want to try something somewhat less agressive. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't get 27" Mud Lites again. You are probably going to have to make a decision: Do you want to kick butt with the big boys, or do you want your lovely and sweet wife to have a comfortable ride? I submit you get a nice set of ATR's that have a little bigger bite, with the comfort of a non agressive tread pattern. Or, option 2, Buy a set of kickin' Mud Lites AND another set for you to bolt on when Ginny rides.

I was trying to do both. When we get the new Yamaha like yours and David's I wil put mudlites on that. Then Ginny can ride the Yamaha when she is along, and I can ride it when she stays home. I don't know anything about the other tires. You and David have mudlites and seem to ride better than our Honda. I do appreciate your advise.
Why are you not out protecting the fair citizens of Oklahoma????

on the subject of tires i think that for u a set of tri claws might meet ur needs or poss. mud bugs. u might try to go to www.highlifter.com and go to the forum undre tire talk and if u go back a ways i think every possible tire question has been asked and answered, but beware of skewed opinions aka. i bought a honda and everything else is crap LOL. good luck and get a mud tire, screw comfort!

I have been promoted to days. It was totally against my will and has wreaked havok on my home life and children schedule. I report back tomorrow morning for more baby kissing and errand running..
