Thanks for the kind words about the Cross Bar Ranch Gordon.
Before anyone brings it up I was the one that Gordon was referring to that was carrying the pistol. I am a police officer on duty and firearms aren't allowed on city property. Just wanted to clarify that before everyone showed up packing iron!!! LOL
Regarding helmets and boots. Due to the ranch being city property the insurance company mandates helmets and over the ankle protection. I was also told that the new Draper area also has a helmet and boot requirement. Due to liability issues it is something everyone should be aware of.
Enjoyed having Gordon and his better half at the ranch. Hopefully we will begin flagging the next stage of the trail loop this next week. When finished this first loop should be in the neighborhood of 15-20 miles. This is only in about 1/4 of the ATV/motorcycle area so there is plenty of room for more trails as we can begin clearing area.
The CHIGGERS are horrible this year. I don't know about the rest of the state but those suckers have just about eat me up. I went out a few days without spraying down good and I am paying for it!!!
Look forward to everyone coming out to the ranch. Progress is being made and with everyone's help and suggestions this area will be a great spot for off road riding.

Andy, this new area is a mixture of both. It starts out with some woods that has just a couple of tight spots, then it opens up to some wide open areas and ends with some more woods. There is alot of elevation change and is a good all around fit for any quad. I personally have only rode it on my 400ex and have tried to ride it as a cross country track(OCCRA practice)and found out that is one heck of a work out. I couldnt make it all the way around without having to stop and take a break. My wife has rode it a couple of times on her 500 Sportsman and she can handle all the woods and my 6yr old rode the entire trail on her 50 with only a couple of little hang ups. As far as the mud, well the entire trail is one way and I am under the impression that the whole area will be closed if there is going to be a chance of bad weather. The management is dead set against letting the trails get into the condition that the other trails end up in. Errosion is what got the other area closed so they are going to prevent that from happing here so it would be safe to say that there will be no mudding there-sorry. You still have to pay at the marina and I have yet to see a single day on the weekend where there hasnt been some one on the gate to check for permits and helmets, they are serious about safety and to make sure the place is taken care of. All of the profit goes back into the maintenance of the place.

Oh yeah, what I like best is that if you get tired of riding the trail, there is a really nice MX track there to get your high speed airborne fix. It is fun just to kick back and watch some rookies make some laps and attempt some of the jumps. Beside the MX track, the kids have their very own circle track that is perfect for the little ones. After you check the place out once, you will see it is pretty nice and it is only going to get better with time. They have another 20-25 miles of trails planned that is very scenic and gives you some choices that wont bore you every weekend. There is a bigger parking lot planned and some more camping in the works, just give it a little time to grow.

The Mx track is located on the back side of the parking lot where the u-turn is. There is a small green gate big enough for one quad at a time to go through and follow the trail marked by the bails of hay. Just be careful on the step-up, it is pretty high and not much landing room. There is a pretty nice table top to play with too.

Mike,
It looks like we may have a change of plans. We're meeting at the Rivermist Quick-Stop (approx. 20 miles south of Seminole) at 10:30 this morning and getting on the river from a private land-owner's property. It's about six miles down river from the Rivermist Bridge.
However, if the river is bank-to-bank at Rivermist, we'll head downriver to the Holdenville location just south of the Holdenville Lake Dam.
