CENTRAL OKLAHOMA ATV CLUB
#3662
Well, Dave and I attended our very first ATV Rodeo tonight in Kansas, Oklahoma. Yep, that's right - there's a town in oklahoma called Kansas - population: 685!!!
The ATV Rodeo was hosted and sponsored by the Outlaw Rebels ATV Group (they prefer to refer to themselves as a "group" not a club). You can find them on the web at www.rebeloutlaws.freehomepage.com
We had a great time getting to know some of the members and contestants. Dawn (one of the group leaders) is a wonderful person with a very bright personality and we really enjoyed the short time we got to spend with her.
One of the reasons we went to this Rodeo is because Dave and I are contemplating hosting our own ATV Rodeo within the next couple of months and we wanted to see what we would be getting in to. In short, EVERYBODY had a great time and we feel this is a great way to promote our sport.
In their Rodeo, they held three racing events to participate in - Poles, Barrels and Flag races. And let me tell you, it ain't as easy as you might think. These folks worked very hard at winning their events and I was impressed at the competition. It was absolutely amazing at how well these guys AND girls were able to ride. As a matter of fact, one female rider turned in one of the BEST times in the barrel racing event. I was impressed.
Anyway, Dave and I will possibly host one of these events in the near future and the Outlaw Rebels have offered to help. We've not yet decided when and where to hold it, but we're currently looking at the Seminole rodeo grounds or possibly even the Agriplex Center in Ada, Ok. And we haven't set a date yet. We're just now starting to gather the information we need - that's why we went to this event in Kansas, Ok.
We have decided a few things though, like which events we might hold. But, we would like your input first and got from there. We're thinking of having 5 events such as;
1) Pole Racing
2) Barrell Racing
3) Sled Pull
4) Mud Bogg
5) Obstacle Course
We're also looking at maybe having
A) Rodeo Clowns
B) Trick Riders
C) Poker Run on the South Canadian River
D) and MANY other kinds of entertainment (asking for suggestions from you here).
I guess what I'm asking is, would you guys be interested in participating in an event like this in Seminole or Ada?
Tell me what you think.
James (it seems like a good idea but you tell me) Hale

Ginny and I are in.... Particularly the sled pull. That is a BLAST! James, PM me, I have a guy in Houston that built one for ATVs. Complete with the rider, weight box, transfer, etc. It takes at least a 500 to pull it. The little Hondas like mine won't even get it untracked.
This could be a lot of fun!!!

James,
I agree with Bob... God Jumping is a must for any Rodeo. I am interested in Barrell races, mud bogging, and especially the sled pull. Did I mention my interest in God Jumping????
