Well another year has came & past yet as another ATV Jamboree is gone by. This years Jamboree had a little of everything with Mother Nature participating in a big way..Friday started out a rainy dreary day...Rain all day long & lots of Wind...We finally was able to get a fire started around 7pm or so & everybody could not get close enough...
Saturday morning we woke to more rain & 33 degree weather & snow flurries...After stoking up the fire more we waited to see what the day had in story. As the rain stopped around noon of so the Poker run trail was laid out. The decision was made to run the ATV Rodeo on Sunday with the Dirt Drags & Mud Pit. Friday there was 61 people signed in with 51 taking part in the 5 mile long Poker Run. Bill Eddy Motorsports in Fayetteville & Rogers provided the prizes for the Poker Run. The Winner took home half the Pot of ($51) & other prizes..THe trail would have been longer but Yours Truley did not tell the 4th check point people to turn right instead of Left...Oh well..Better luck next time.
We met some very nice people including the "Cheater" Young's from Washburn,Mo. Always good to see the Young Clan..Great sports when is comes to the Jamboree or Riding in general..
Sunday awoke to sunshine & clear skies. Even though the #'s were down this year because of the cold & rainy weather. THere was a good turnout of over 100 atv's for Sunday. Was good to see the Dead End Racing crew out of the Coffeyville Area again this year..THey always put on a great show in the dirt drags..
Started out with the ATV Rodeo 3 events , Barrel Races, Flag Grab & Cone race.. It was great to see the little kids do thier events...THere was 1 BIG utility in the class. Ryan Simmons from Bentonville,Ar showed up with his big badass lifted Rhino. With the big griping tires he was moving some real estate with them. He finished very well considering he was the only Rhino racing against Quads. Next year we are looking into the Rhino's & Rangers (UTV's) having their own class.
Next came the Dirt Drags. 1st looked like it would be the mudpit drags. But Between Bill , Bev , Jim & Dewayne & the Big Road Grader he was able to get us 2 lanes for the drags...The races were once again dominated again by the 300-399cc class which featured mostly Big bore Banshees..... WOW they were fast...
Then came the Mudpit . It use to be the most popular event. Not sure why the #'s has dropped off in it. However the Mud participants wer ready for the challange...We ran the Snake Pit for the 4X4 ATV's & once again Ryan Simmons on his Rhino proved to be no slouch placing 2nd in the class. The 2wheel drive event was good racing also & the Kids Mud Pit was the best....
Once everyone was done it was time to pack up & head to the house , get a shower that did not smell like Sulpher Water & a warm bed.
We met some really nice people this weekend & look forward to meeting them again.
We will be planning the next ATV Fall Jamboree sponsored by Joplin(Mo) Powersports coming in Sept 2007
See you there..
