World record ATV parade
#1
Just in case anyone is interested, June 13, the ATVAM ( ATV association of Minnesota) is sponsering an attempt to get into the Guiness Record book with the largest ATV parade in Silver Bay, MN. Last years attempt came up 46 short, turns out 3 wheelers and UTVs do NOT count ( go figure). I am registered and counting the days, I will take pictures, but anyone is welcome to join the fun. They will need about 1500 ATVs to take the record, that is a lot of wheelers on pavement !!! Make a weekend out of it, the North Shore is a beautiful area, and it sounds like a lot of activities are planned. Kids can ride, since it is a parade route, they just have to be legal ( helmets, age/cc motor size, accompanied by legal adult ) Hope to see you there. !!

Good news and bad news, the Good: I'm sure the record got broken, word was there were about 1300 pre registered, and a lot of registrations the day of the parade, only needed 1039 for the record. I have never seen so many quads in one spot, it was a real shocker to see an area the size of several football fields jammed nose to nose with quads, it took a couple hours just to get them all out and around the 5 mile route, we had to wait for the last rows to leave to get back to the staging area, it filled the route from end to end, often with quads running double rows !! It was great, people from all over, several states, kids, old retired couples, dogs, you name it, it was on a 4 wheeler !! Everyone was so great, it was like riding with a few thousand of your closest friends, everyone wanted to talk and get to know you, to see where you were from, check out your ride, it was like we all knew each other for years. Lots of quads rode the trails to the staging area, the line was 4 wide, and went back as far as you could see into the woods, and it took hours to get them all lined up.
Now the bad--- I feel like a complete and utter moron, I took lots of pictures, then after the parade, a rain front moved in, so I was quickly getting out of my riding boots and shirt, and left my cameral on the bumper of my truck, didn't miss it until I was several miles down the road, I'm so sorry, I feel like I let everyone down. I'll contact the ATVAM and see if anyone found it and turned it in, but it probably got run over a few hundred times on the road where I was parked, I'll let you know if I hear anything. I am very sorry about my absent mindedness, I was really looking forward to sharing all the great shots.

The count came out to 1632, almost 600 more than the old record, I saw the airel picture in the Local section of the Sunday Duluth newspaper, it just showed a fraction of the quads in the staging area, there was no way to get all the quads in one picture, unless you were on a sattelite !!. A copter kept flying over with people taking pictures, and cars and motorcycles kept stopping on the highway to take shots, I can only imagine what it looked like from the outside, since I was in the middle of it, I stood on my rack, but it was still hard to take it all in.

I would have had several nice pictures to share, but as I stated in my first post, I pulled a super bone head move, and left my camera on the rear bumper of my truck in my hurry to load up before the rain hit, and lost it. I contacted the ATVAM, and they were going to check to see if a camera was turned in.
