how to adjust rider weight on works shocks?
#1
Hey! I ride a honda 250ex and just bought works dual rate shocks without rezzys. They didnt come with instructions how to adjust the rider weight or preload. Does anyone know how to do this? If so, thanks alot. Also if anyone has a manual, could they scan it and send it. Thanks.

Unless they are have the threaded preload adjustment, you will have to compress the springs, and remove the "c" clip, and move the clip up or down in the notches. The clip is hidden by the spring perch on the adjustment end, and will only be visible/movable when the spring is slightly compressed.
Works generally asks you for rider weight before purchase, thus tailoring the shocks to your personal needs.

O thanks for your response. I bought the shocks used so they weren't set up for me. They are set for a 150-175 lb rider and i weigh around 130. I have the preload adjuster. Do you loosen the adjuster to soften the shocks? How much should u? I don't have the manual so Im not sure. Thanks again.

Rezzies are really only needed for long, long extended periods of hard riding, like racing. The rezzies help cool the shock oil, reducing fade. Not needed for the average rider. I have them only because of the deal I got on them, I don't need 'em either.

I live in Saylorsburg. Pa and usually go riding at Jack Frost, Paragon Trail system, or our local track. What about you? I might get the ressys if I get more involved.

They are great! Stock, the 250ex only has 5.9" of travel.........now i got 7.1" of travel. They're well worth the price! also elka makes shocks for the ex but are overpriced. Go with the works if u decide on getting aftermarket shocks.
