hey i know for sure that im getting either mud bugs of gators but i dont know which one to get. how deep of a lug does the 26 in gators have. do they have 1.25 or is it different. the one with the bigger lug is gunna be the one that i get so if anyone has some info id like to know.

 

Both tires are very rough riding. THe ITP 589 gives you a much better ride and is just as good in the mud. Give the 589 a look.

 

I have the gators and find them smoother riding than the 589's.The lugs appear identical to the mudbugs of the same size.

 

They are pretty well the same tire and they dont ride that rough. The mud bugs are a little lighter and have bigger lugs of the tires under 26". The 26" gators and up have 1.25" deep lugs and all the mud bugs have 1.2" lugs.

 

I would personally get the 27" Bugs, they weight less than either of the 26" tires you mentioned. A little more ground clearance and less weight.

I have the 589MS tires. They ride just fine.

 

The Gators are far from rough! The tread overlaps the centre of the tire, providing a smooth constant contact patch of tread. The Gators' lugs are slightly more horizontal, where as the mud bugs have more of a curve in their lugs. I looked at both of them extensively and i decided to go with the gators.
