Greetings, I am new to this forum but noticed several postings asking questions about the Litefoots. I just installed a set on my 03 Polaris Ranger and these things ROCK!!!! Now granted I use them for work, but they are simply incredible. They FLOAT across EXTREMELY soft mud here in my area. I went into a drainage area that I could not get out and walk in, and the tracks sunk in maybe 3 to 6 inches and proceeded with no problem. Understand that I am 6'3" 300# and the Ranger was fully loaded with gas and my tools (GCVWR 1850#-1900# guestimate). For my need they are perfect.

However, if you are looking at them for a normal ATV, understand that they will be a little harder to steer, and you will sacrafice speed for the ability to go absolutely ANYWHERE. I would hate for someone to lay out the bucks for these things and not understand what they will loose in the trade off. They seem to be very well built and were a breeze to put on. I believe that I will get at least 5 to 7 years out of mine before I may need new belts. I stay on ground almost 100% of the time.

My dad has a Ranger too, the 6x6, is yours the same? The thing is a beast, why'd they have to make it so heavy? I'm sure he'd get it in a heartbeat if they weren't so expensive, how much did they cost you since you need the extra too if you have the 6? How do you like it? Will it go pretty much anywhere a quad will, mainly with the stock tires? I don't wanna take my dad hunting and spend the whole day winching that beast outta muskeg holes! But I luv them tracks, I want a set for my hunting quad and for my truck! I luv the vids on the site, I play them over and over! Those things are the ultimate for going anywhere!

 

SpArX, No mine is a 4x4. With these tracks, so far I would say that it will go ANYWHERE!!!!! Most likely it will go places that a normal quad will NOT. The neat thing is that you don't have to go blasting thru stuff that looks intimidating. I simply ease into the muck and slowly power out. It rained over 4 inches here last Thursday, and as soon as the rain stopped I was out in the middle of a runoff area moving freely. I doubt you will spend ANY time pulling your dad out if he got the tracks. I'm not sure how they would do on the 6x6. I believe that the rear tires are to close together and the tracks would not fit.

As I stated earlier, if you will be on tight nimble trails the tracks will SUCK. They are not practical on the Ranger for tight trail riding. On a Quad it would not be so noticiable because the steering is so much quicker and shorter (lock to lock). As far as weight, each track weights about 60#. My Ranger does not seem to mind the extra weight because with the drive sprocket the tracks use, it actually LOWERS the gear ratio. Remember that if a machine comes with 25" tires, if you go smaller (shorter height) you effectively lower your gear ratio. If stock is 4.5 to 1, a smaller drive wheel will decrease this ratio to say 5.0 or more. This gives the machine more bottom end grunt, effectively cancelling out the added weight. But, you will NOT have the same top speed, it will be dramatically reduced.

The dealer where I bought my snowmobile had a set of litefoot tracks on a arctic cat tbx500. That thing was huge had almost 2 feet of ground clearance!! He said that he could go anywheres a snowmobile could go and they only got it stuck once, when it broke through ice on a beaver pond. He used them all winter without a problem and he got them for free from litefoot as a test/demo for them. I have seen some other brands like kimpex and they are nowheres near the quality of the litefoots.
