I am purchasing a 2004 Honda Foreman and am trying to decide on the tire that I want. I have heard a lot about the ITP/Titan 589 and the ITP Mudlites. I like to trail ride a lot and also like to get into the mud. I hunt and I want my tire to grip extremely well for any pulling or towing that I may need to do. I don't want a big heavy lug that will make the ride rough but want sufficient amounts to do the job. Any advice would be greately appreciated.

Currently, there are 4 tires that totally impress me... 2 of them are Goodyears... the Mudrunners, & the new radial MTR's, the Interco TSL's ( or Vamps ), & the new radial Big Horns... I'm also waiting for the release of the new vastly inproved High lifter radial Outlaws...

 

Mudlites in AT LEAST 26". Great all around tire IMO

ITP 589 have a big heavy lug and are ruff riding a very slow speeds, but will dig you out of the mud. I just got a set and they seem to be suited for my type of riding.

 

Nobody ever mentions the 489XT's - great ALL AROUND tire and not big or heavy like some others. Consider those or Mudlites!

 

I thought I read that the mudlites didn't wear very well on hard surfaces? Anybody know differently? I am looking for an aggressive tire that will last a while (due to their price). My prairie 700 likes to spin the tires a bit and don't want bald carcasses after a while. Anyone have the Big Horn radials?

The ITP 589's are a serious mud tire, I've got them on a Grizzly 660.

They are aggressive and heavy!! My riding area has some very nasty mud holes, and the 589's or Mud lites are what the majority of bikes around my area are running. I have heard though, that the mud lites will clog in the center of the tread lugs(In those little cutouts in the top of the lugs) I think the reason the mud lites are so much lighter than the 589's is because the 589's are 6 ply rated.

If you put them on something under 400 CC's consider either matching the stock tire size, or doing a pipe and jet job, and possibly more.

Mud Lites are 6 ply too. If the center of the lug became plugged with mud then they would just become the heavier 589's until the mud shakes back out. I have Mud Lites and they are great.

 

Goodyear Mudrunners are an excellent choice!!
