Default Confused about rim sizes ??

Happy FRIDAY Eveyone,,,,,,I am stumped about rims sizes and hope someone can help me. Can I buy ANY tire that is 25x8-12 for my bike if that is the size tire on my bike now ? Or is there different fitting 25x8-12 rims and tires out there ? I am afraid that if I order tires online, they may not fit !! Can i just use the #'s on my bike tires now to order my new tires ? Thanks everyone,,,,Terry !

1st off the rims ... 25" X 8" X 12" is you tires dimensions... your rims are probably 6.5" X 12", or 7" X 12"... the offsets will be different, between the fronts, & the rears... offset, is the difference between the center section ( the part that bolts on to the quad ), & the rim... for example, it may measure 3" on the inside, & 5" on the outside... this would be listed as a 3+5 offset in the catologes, then there is the bolt pattern to take into account... it may look like 4/110, 4/137... etc. this means that there are 4 lug bolts, & they are spaced at 110, & 137 mm respectively , some quads, ( mostly 2 X 4's ), may have different bolt patterns between the front & rear wheels ... most of the time you would just order wheels for your make model & year of your quad, & they will send you what fits... some of the cast aluminum aftermarket wheels may come with 1" wider offset... typically this is not a problem, & usually helps with the fitment of wider tires... however this will make your quad at least 2" wider ( more, if wider than stock tires are added )... just in case it barely fits someplace now...

2nd... tires... generally you can mount most 12" tires on a 12" rim... if for example, your quad had 25" X 8" X 12" fronts, & 25 X 10" X 12" rears, you could mount 26", 27", 28" diameter tires on these wheels... typically, your tires can be 1" to 3-4" wider than the wheels... when you get to extreme sizes, like 28" X 12.5" X 12" tires, you should ask on the forums, for fitment on your specific quad ( fitment can vary by brand, model, or modifications etc. )... most of the time, ( with exception to extreme sizes ), the person selling them, can tell if they will fit ( buy from someone reputable... hope this helps...WAM

25X8-12: (25) is the height of the tire, (8) is the width of the tire and (12) is the size of the rim. The rim will also have a width size like 6, 6.5, 7. You could buy any tire that is the same size as stock and it will fit. But not all tires are equal in size even though they are the same number size. (It depends on the manufacturer.) (Some can be smaller or taller.) You could also go up in size as long as the rim height is the same as your rim and you don't go too big for the stock rim width. As long as you have the power and clearance, you could put a size like 26X9-12 on replacing the 25x8-12. (12 being the rim size.)

I am havin the same issue. Would it be an issue to put 26(27)x10x12 on a 6.5x12 rim and a 26(27)x12x12 on a 8x12 rim considering clearance was not an issue?

KODIAC... those should work... just that the treads may be more rounded... this may push the O.D. to a taller tire... some tires are effected more or less from too wide a tire on a narrower rim... however aftermarket wheels for utility quads are typically 7" X 12"... & it is not uncommon to run 12 & 12.5" wide tires on these wheels... the only time a person should really pay more attention to this, is if the rims are the same width or narrower ( it may be difficult to mount, & they may pop off the bead too easily, & for racing, & pulling... in racing it is not uncommon to run bead lock wheels, that actually bolt pinch clamps on the beads of the tires ... for pulling, you want the tread as wide, & as flat as possible... in pulling, it is not uncommon to run 12" wide wheels with 12" wide tires...

The answer is yes. You can just use the numbers off of the old tires and order new ones. Pretty much any brand/style in the same size will fit your wheels. Dont worry about offset, rim width, etc if you just want to replace tires with the SAME sizes. Do note that the fronts may be different than the backs, however.
