How to dismount a tire?
#2
I was going to buy the tools from Harbor Freight Tools or Northeren Tool but I found out that my local Wallmart will Mount them for $3.00 a tire.

I see harbor freight has a small tire changer for less than $30. Then again, I see your point. I have a small leak in one atv tire I was trying to fix, I just hate to have to take it off, drop it off, pick it up, etc... Then again, how often does it happen.
Perhaps once I move and get a larger garage I may get one. As for now, I think I am going to follow your lead.
Thanks,
Brent

Step 1: Remove offending wheel
Step 2: Place wheel in car
Step 3: Drive to dealer
Step 4: Leave wheel
Step 5: Drive to tavern
Step 6: Take cab to dealer
Step 7: Pick up wheel, pay bill for $5
Step 8: Next morning, replace wheel, try to remember where you parked the car.

OK, OK, I get the picture. I just like doing things myself and I figured, hay, I can handle a tire o a 12" rim. Any way, I just took it bact to my dealer, their mower shop did it for free.

Mounting or dismounting is not really the problem, even with a tire machine like I have (Harbor freight)
It's the breaking the bead that is killing me. I have done four tires so far and every one has been a big battle and I have tired many different ways also.

I think there is a machine designed specifically for low-pressure tires.

Well, if your like my buddy you just flip it doing about 50mph. Worked for him, on two of his tire's. Oh but you might bend some other part's as well.

Interesting comment on the manual set up however!! I seem to remember a diagram someplace where showing an extra lip on an atv rim that held the edge of the bead. Sort of an extra hand sice there is not a lot of air pressure actig on the tire to hold it in place.

Its called a bead breaker people. It is a two handled device that basically wedges between the tire and rim lip andn knocks the tire off the wheel. They range from 25 to 60 dollars. Well worth the money if you mess with tires much.
