help me pick a new rear tire!
#1
i have had experience with some mud type tires (bear claws/surtraks/titan 589's/realtors) but i havnt gotten to experiment much with rears for normal day to day riding.
My ohtsus on my DS are starting to wear (probably 50% left)
What should i look at?
weight/traction/tire life are the biggest deal to me... (my old realtors on .190 rims weighed 26 pounds EACH!!!) i think my sand stars on .190s and the stockers on stock wheels weigh like HALF of that.
the tires im considering right now are
Knarlys (seem pretty blocky im guessing they have bad wet traction? tire life is probably pretty high?)
holeshots (dont know much about these)
razrs (dont know much about them)
all-traks? (havnt heard or seen much about these in the past few years...)
razr II's (besides being REALLY expensive how are they overall?)
on rocky mountains site, it shows the 20 inch sizes as 6 ply, but then the only 22 inch tall rear tire dosnt say anything about it. would that make it a 4 ply?
anyone have the weight of a 22x11x9 razr II? i keep looking at the prices and freaking out... the razr II's cost per pair, what some tires cost per pair MOUNTED!
two of the above size is 160 plus shipping...
im looking for basically an all season tire, but it has to be lite-weight. (anyone know how much the above tires weigh? either on rims or without?)
whatever i get i want to put on stock rims (9 inch) and i also want it 22 inches tall (for the extra 1 inch ground clearance)
does anyone know if they make ohtsus in a 22 inch tall tire? (dont know what the part number on the stock ds 650 ohtsus are, or i would go looking myself)
sorry for the long and painful thread... let me know what you guys think if you have experience with the above tires. (or if i missed a good one you think i should consider)
Thanks guys

well right now i got 18 inch holeshots on my raptor, they are the greatest thing in the world... cept they ware out really fast cuz they are 2 ply...... im goona go with kenda klaws when mine wear out.... seein as holeshots dont make 18'' that are more than 2 ply. i would say go with the 22 inch holeshots.... i think its XCR... i know that one of the holeshot tires are 6 ply so u will have them for a long time b4 they wear out. razr 2's i hear are preaty nice.... but expensive. I would either go with the holeshots or the kenda klaws.

if u want a light 22 inch tire that will wear good, get the 22-11-9 back razers. dont get the 2's get the origonals. i had them on a past warrior, and they dont suck much power, they have good traction, and they lasted longer than the quad. i ran alot on the road. (sorry bout the spelling)

Go with either the razr or r2's....if you do a lot of mudding then go with the 2's.......I got some regular razr's on the front and they are great...great handling with speed...some good sidewals and pretty good in the mudd....they are 6 ply....which in my opinion is the way to go for a trailrider...your 6 ply should last longer then the lesser plys.
