25 inchers on A Recon
#2
I don't have the stock tire size at hand but since the Recon is just a 250cc, increasing the tire size will probably decrease your low end power, depending on how large you go.It simply changes the gear ratio, giving more top end but taking out some low end. I have a King Quad which is only a 300cc and that's why I 've stuck with the stock size Since no one ese has responded to your post, if you'd like to email me with your tire size and the type of riding you mainly do, we could talk some more about larger sizes.
I'd be glad to hep if i can.

what i would do is put some 24x9x11 bearclaws
or vampires (depending on what you use it for) you could probably use honda 300 4x4
rims for it and you should put some 23 inch
titans, or holeshots on the front.
You could put 24 inch bearclaws on the front
too becouse that would look bad.

I too have a recon , and I'm starting to find that going any bigger than a 23"is going to kill that awsome low end .So I think I'm going to go with either the bearclaws or the vampires. Also the front end does not float and I would like it to , so if any one else has any tips for that ,I'm greatfull

Hey since I last replied,I had the chance to actually put on a set of 23"tires on the front and the back of my recon. You coulnd't even tell that they were bigger, the only thing that was different was I seemed to bottom out the front shocks(although I was really riding hard trying to test the results). And the funny thing was that the tires were on a 1999 yamaha wolverine rim.It seems that the rims are identical(99%)even the hole for the front brake drain plug. And the nice thing about that was that they were 12"rims(a lot more selection for rubber)So I hope the info was a help...By the way the front still didn't float, but it was close...

I'm not too familiar with a recon but I wouldn't go too big. I have a 300 honda 4x4 and it handles my new vampires pretty well. I went with 24X9-11 on the front and 25X12-11 on the back. I can tell that it has lost some power. It isn't significant and I think it is well worth it for the traction I gained. I haven't got the right amount of air in them either they have like 20psi in them untill tomorrow.I'll drop them down to 10. Well just don't go too big. cause mine also barely fit under my fenders.

this may sound stupid but it could make the front end float. One of my friends went to a mud bog last month and said people would air up a volleyball under there fenders. It gives more flotation. It might be worth a try if you can get it to fit without touching the tires. Good luck with that experiment.

Wouldn't 25's hit the fenders when the suspension is compressed? Putting 25's on a 250cc motor will wear that motor down a lot quicker--plus it will put a lot of stress on the U joint. You guys shouldn't have gotten Recons if you wanted to put 25s on 'em. Next time go with something that is designed to run something that big.
