Detroit gearless locker
#1
Does anyone have an opinion on the Detroit Gearless Locker? I here from a lot of people that they're really good in the HONDAs but I have not met anyone who has had time to put a lot of miles on one. I'm wondering, since it is gearless and relies on friction to drive the axles, if they tend to wear out over time and require rebuilding.

i for one can say it is amazing does as avertised and more.
install is ok, and it works really well.
i have had the locker in for prolly 1000mi, and not a single problem. also the steering effort in 4x4 isnt really increased all that much.

Sorry to bring up old news... But I want to put a Detroit Locker on my 01 Yamaha wolverine. I also want to put a Warn 4-2-4 select kit on my Wolverine aslo. Would i be able to put both the detroit locker and the 4-2-4 select kit on it? Even though i know that the locker wont work in 2wd would it work in 4wd with the 4-2-4?

Without the 4-2-4 you would have harder steering effort all the time. With the 4-2-4 it will be able to steer easy until you switch to 4x4. It will work great.

They make it wider and harder to fit thru some tight spots. I think it it grabs roots and rocks more too. It's funny you should ask cause I took them off last night to see how different it is. I put them on at the same time I got my tires and locker.
