tires/rims for tree climbing
#1
I'm looking for the best tires and rims for the following:
AC 650 4x4
Lots of logs/stumps/etc
Some rock
Moderate mud
Snow plowing for a 300 yard driveway
So far, it sounds like itp589's w/ c-5 series rims? I've thought about the Gators or Dirt Devil's as well? For rims, it seems like ITP is almost the only major player?
thanks!

don't get alluminum rims, they can crack, get steel at least if you bend them you can bend them right back as good as new...theres no fixing a cracked alluminum rim. Go with itps package for 589 tires and delta rims....NICE PACKAGE

alluminum is in no stretch of the imagination stronger than steel.

Ounce for ounce, aluminum is definitely not nearly as strong as steel. I would wonder about the strength of the ITP configuration vs a standard steel wheel though. It's all about where and how thick you put the materials and the itp wheels seems fairly well thought out.
As for the weld, it would pretty much suck to take a nice looking wheel and weld it. And for the strength, it would depend on whether or not you were somehow able to weld the entire depth of the crack...not likely, which would reduce the strength.

im not trying to start anything here i just want to state my opion. you can fill the whole crack with weld by V'ing out the crack. this would let you get all the way to the bottom and plus some, because the weld would blow through some.
after you welded the rim then you could metal finish the weld, then have it plated. to make it look pretty again.
i have beaten the lip back to its origanal spot on aluminum rims with no problems, and some have cracked when i was not carefull.
