Bearclaw question
#1
Anybody know how deep the tread is on a set of 25" Bearclaws? Is there a difference between 25's and 26's like with say Mudlites? I know when you go up to a 26" tire, the tread gets much deeper.
Either way, they gotta be deeper than the 1/2" deep tread on my stock Maxxis rubber.
Also, if you run Bearclaws, do you like them? My riding will mostly be trails in the off season, and during hunting season, lots of sharp rock, mud, and sometimes deep snow. I'm looking to replace my stock rubber, and I think I'm gonna go with Bearclaws.
Thanks.

i have the 25's. the tread depth on the bearclaws i would say (i don't have actual manufacturer numbers) is approx. 3-4mm more than the stock maxxis. the difference though compared to the sidewall is even greater because the stockers taper but the bearclaws don't. the tread compound is very tough and puncture resistant. they protect the bead very well. for riding conditions, the bearclaws tend to "hunt" and grab on the front so just beware. for mud, the bearclaws do a little better than stock but not a world of difference. the stock tires are softer and cover more surface area. the bearclaws don't clean very well but they are not a mud tire. i noticed the biggest difference on the rocks, they do excellent. i have not had the chance to try them in snow. would i buy them again, yes. they are a good all around tire, but get the 26" ers. let me say this again, get the 26" ers. i know the tread is deeper on them but don't know by how much. maybe you can contact kenda. let us know how things go. hope this helps.

I have the 27" Bearclaws. I was going to get 26", but the ones I got were actually lighter. For the conditions you describe, you couldn't get a better tire. They're tough as nails, good in the snow, and are a super all around tire. I run mine almost flat in the winter, as the sidewalls are really tough, and about 5psi in the summer. The tread depth on the 27X12-12 are about 1-1/8", and a little smaller on the 27X10's. Get them , you won't be disappointed.
