I am looking at some Works A-T Steelers for the front end of my 300EX. For $40 more, should i just go ahead and go w/ the triple rates w/out resovoirs? Because the dual rates w/out resovoirs are 300 and the triples w/out them are 340. Should I go with the triples?

I have read that dual rate shocks suck. I read it out of a review on a 99or 2000 ktm 380 DIRTBIKE. The guy said in the review that dual rates don't work and never have. And then he said well then why do manufactures put them on bikes becuase they are trying to make the shock suit a variety of rider weights. He enventually said just to drop the dual rate spring and go with a straight rate spring. Remember this was for a dirtbike though.

I bought the triple rates, with resevoirs, and love them. I race motocross, and they are simply awesome. My freind has the double rates, and I don't feel like they have the same response and ride quality mine have. Especially over small bumps at speed, or after landing a jump. Go with the triple rates, you'll be glad you did.

Actually, most shock builders say triple rate is overkill, even for motocross, the extra rate only works for a small time, hence the word rate. But for motocross most people do go with triple rate. If the shock is set up correctly, a dual rate should be fine, was the magazine just refeering to a certain bike or manufacturer? Besides a stock shock is never perfect for everybody its set up to work for many sizes of riders and terrains. As far as a 300EX only dual rate is available from most shock builders anyway, so there is not much choice there. They don't enough travel to justify triple rate suspension.

I second Sickman's opinion. My friend got Last Rebel to make him triple rates for his 300ex. Works said that there isn't really enough suspension there for them, but they work great.
