XCTs lose air
#1
I have new Holeshot XCTs on the new ITP T-9 Edge rims. I love 'em, but now that my riding is down to once or twice a week due to weather, the fronts go flat thru the week. I've heard this is a common problem with the XCTs, and slime won't help. Any info?

SportKod,
Tubeless tires are inherently leakers. Unlike car & truck tubeless tires,ATV tires are designed to run at very low psi. Any deformity in the bead area of the rim, rust spots, dents, etc. will cause a break in the seal. I ride at least every Sat & sun and Invariably have to re-inflate one or two of my Bandits to the 6 psi I run so you shouldn't fault any brand of tire as being leakers.
One suggestion if you feel it worth the time:
Deflate any tire which you feel leaks excessively, take some brake fluid and pushing the bead away from the rim as much as possible, apply the brake fluid to the entire circumference of the tire. Re-inflate the tire to 10 psi to seal, & then deflate to your normal pressure. This isn't a guarantee, but it often stops rim leaks.

Read on the side of the tire for the max bead seat pressure.
I wouldn't go any higher than this to seat the bead.
It is usually 20-27 PSI
AMA 99 Sportsman Any Questions...ASK
P.S. Remember to keep your fingers away from the seating bead...When the bead pops in you don't want your fingers in the way. (It is usually violent)

SportKod,
I had the very same problem you have just stated with my old Holeshots. The best thing to do is to take them to a place that does tires. Have them take the tires off the rim and polish up any burrs on the valve stem hole and look for the same on the seating area. Then have them apply some tire seating goo. This worked wonders with my old Holeshots.

I have had the same problems with itp holeshots i have them mounted on itp rims not the new style and also on Dougles .190 and on 10" champion beadlocks they all leaked over time Then i fixed the tires with a $10 tube in each And so far no leaks just a thought for the tires that leak

hot_shoe_cv I would like to thank you for making that post. I have bought Holeshot XCs,s and had them mounted on the stock 400ex rims about 4 months ago and the had leaked ever scince. They would go completly flat over night. Itried the thing with the brake fluid and it has been 4 days now and no leakage! Does the brake fluid make the tires seat beter or what?
Thanks Eric Eveslage

eeveslage,
As I pointed out in my original reply, the brake fluid trick doesn't always work, but I'm glad it did the trick (
) in your case. I believe the fluid just softens the rubber enough in the bead area to allow it to seal against the rim, without harming the rubber since rubber is used extensively in hydraulic brake systems.
