Has anyone else ever noticed how easily the lips on Honda wheels get bent in?

When I purchased my '85 Odyssey the wheels looked terrible. The edges where all squished in and bent up. So rather than spend money on new wheels, and seeing as these ones where still very functional. I took the time to straighten all the edges out with a rubber mallet, screwdriver, vise grips and pry bar, only to find that after 10-15 hours of easy riding, I was right back where I started. Apparently it doesn't take much to bend these up.

I never had this problem on my old ATC's or my '83 Odyssey that had the 2-piece wheels which don't have the lip I am talking about. Looks like it might be time for a set of ITP steel replacements.

Yeah, I found the same problem with my old 86 and 87 model 350 Fourtrax/Foreman. I never took the time to straigten them due to the fact that it really didn't look bad and it didn't leak or anything. You couldn't tell they were bent anyway, it was always full of mud. Good ole bikes, feeble ole wheels. But, got me where I wanted to go flat free.

When you "fixed" the problem you realy maid it easier for the lip to bend again. If you keep doing it will break. Most stock rims are weak (cheaper, less weigh) Don't air the tires down to much. Aviod big rocks logs as much as possible :-)
