Default Mud Lites Mud Bugs or Mud Runners?

I was wondering what anyone knows about the Mud Lite Mud Bug or the Mud Runners. Which do you think would suit my big bear the best? And should I go to a 10" wide rear tire or a 12" wide rear tire? I also want to go one size taller and use 26"s. I trail ride mostly but want something that can go in the mud well. Thanks.

If you trail ride mostly I think I would have to throw out the Mudbugs. If you're set on 26", it's likely to be 26x9x12 or 26x10x12 in the front and 26x12x12 in the back. If you aren't concerned about the longevity of the Mudlites or potentially lack-there-of, then those would probably be your tire. However, if you feel comfortable with the more pronounced power loss of the Mudrunners, you certainly cannot go wrong with them in any aspect.

Why are mud lites associated with low tread life anyhow? Are they just a soft compound?

Yes. Matter of fact, went and inspected some at the dealership today and squeezed the lug between my fingers and found it to be very flexible and soft. Not good in my book.

Was there a substantial loss in power with the mud runners?

On a 400 you will feel it, but it's not devastating by any means.

What about the Outlaw or the Outlaw radials do they wear well or rob some power w/ 26"s?

26" Outlaws are way more aggressive and have poor trail manners. If you want a mud-only tire then they are for you. If you want a serious mud tire with slightly better mud manners than look at the Mudzilla. They handle trails a little better. Vamps do great in the mud and on trails as do Mud Machine's Bi/Tri Claws. For a good all-around tire the Outlaw MSTs are awesome. For more mud with occasional trail use, the MudBug and MudRunners are awesome.
