Default Noise in frontend under load.

93 kawasaki Bayou KLF 400 4x4. Trail riding is fine, no noise. If I push it like up a hill or in some good mud there's a clunking noise coming from the front end. If it's CV joints or wheel bearings how can I check either with it jacked up off the ground? Or can I? Reason I ask is it only does it under a load. I was loading it on the trailer up the ramp and my buddy said he could hear it and sounded like it was coming from the center of the right front wheel.
