Default Opinions - light sporty mud/snow/trail tire

I'm looking for a decent set of rear tires for my warrior. They need to be light and sporty enough that I can slide them around the corners and all that good stuff without them being too grippy or heavy, but they have to be aggressive enough to do good in mud, snow, and rocky terrain. I also need something that's going to last me a few years, I go through rear tires pretty quick because I ride hard.

So far, i've been looking mainly at Kenda Bear Claws, GBC Mud Sharks, and Maxxis Sur Traks. If you have any opinions on these tires for me, or anything you thing might work better, post em up. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

Look at my pics of my swamplites, they are a good aggressive all terrain tire excellent on rocky, snowy, muddy, and hardpack terrain. The mud sharks, and bear claws lean more toward mud than anything else.

Hey, those swamplites do look pretty sweet. How well can you get them to slide around a corner when you want them to, though? They look like they might almost have too much bite for that. And how does the treadwear seem on them so far? Thanks.

I have about 1000 miles on them, with almost no wear. I have irs and ifs so "power sliding" isnt something i do alot, but i have. I also am picky about trying to extend the life of my tires, and sliding doesnt seem like something that will do that But i would reccomend them to anyone

How sporty do they actually feel? I don't want tires that are going to make my warrior feel like a ute. I've spent near $4000 in aftermarket parts on this thing to make it ride like the modern sport quads, and I don't want to go and kill this light sporty feeling by putting the wrong tires on it. Thanks.

I know the Maxxis Sur Traks will feel sporty enough, I had a set of those on my honda recon and loved the way they felt. They would slide when I wanted them to, and hook up when i needed them to. The big complaint I had with those though, was that they would just dig a hole when I tried riding in more than a couple inches of snow, and that's no fun. Sometimes I would spend 30 minutes just getting the thing 40 feet up the hill from my shed, which I hated to do, but I love to ride in snow so I did it anyways. From the way they look, the swamplites would be great in the snow.

You do know the Maxxis Sur Trac can be turned around for traction on different surfaces, right? If you look on the side,it has an arrow that shows dirt/mud, and the opposite way for sand/snow, you just swap the tires from side to side, I did it on my Wolverine for the dunes at Silver Lake, had great traction, and didn't dig down unless I made it spin real bad. Snow isn't too much of a problem, but I do have 4wd, so that does help a lot.

I know the sur-traks can be turned around, but I don't remember actually trying that when I had mine. Does it really make much of a difference?

They make a Mudlite SP that is specifically designed for sport quads. May want to check that one out. I dont know much about mudlite's but people seem to like them. I just ordered some Swamplites for my BF750!! Can't wait for them.

I knew about the mudlites for sport quads, but was against them from the start because the mudlite tread compound is extremely soft and wears quick. I was afraid they would be worn out within a few months the way I ride.

I made my decision though, about 2 hours ago I ordered a pair of Swamp-Lites 22-12-9 from mudthrowers.com for $120 and free shipping. I'll get them mounted up next week, and then hopefully i'll get my axle bearings replaced over the holiday weekend so I can test the swamplites out.
