How are your Goodyear Mudrunners?
#1
Ok I have been researching on tires for many years, and still haven't come to an conclusion of what to get. First it was 589's, then Mudzilla's, then Outlaw's, then Mudbugs, now Mudrunners? How do they compare to 598's and the Mudbugs? I ride on trails and go in mud with stock tires and want something a lot better. I want something with ok/good trail riding capabilies, but can handle a serious mud hole. Can they go through more mud than ITP Mudlite XL? Because I don't really like Mudlites. I would be getting 27's by the way. Do they selfclean any good?
How much thread does the mudrunners have? Do you have any pictures?
Please Help!!
Thanks.

I'm not sure if you read the book I wrote yesterday (which disappeared) , but if you have any other ?? that aren't covered in the above link please ask.
I like them and my new 27" set should be delivered TODAY, I have to wait until Tuesday to have them mounted though. Going today to get me some chrome STEEL valve stems for the tire swap.

Way outta my league, I bet you'd have to have after market wheels to pull that off. (fronts too narrow?)
The widest I'd want up front is 10" that goodyear doesn't offer.
If that is what I was after I'd just go with Mudlites.

Thanks DaveC, the only thing that I'm not liking about the Mudrunners is that the fronts have less thread...and weird tire sizes.
I have finaly have come to an conclusion about tires!!! I'm going to buy Maxxis Mudbugs, they are a lot lighter then the Mudrunners. I'm sure they can handle a little more mud and do decent on the trails. I will be going with 27x12x12's all around, because they're actually only 9.8in wide.
I don't like the mudlites, I had them before on my other bike and I find that they clog up easy in the mud, and not good at self cleaning, but do really nice on trails though.

Congrats on the tire choice.
Not sure how much lighter they really are, but it sounds like you've done your homework on the matter.
How is a 27x12x12 only 9.5" across?? Was it placed on a wide rim?
For what its worth I had my tires mounted today and they measured 26 5/8" on the front and 27" on the rear mounted.
That was with 5 psi rear and 6 psi front.
Enjoy your mudbugs, I'll be putting the mudrunners through the paces tomorrow at the deer lease.
Time to clear some trails and hang some cameras.
