Default When to Replace Tires?

We've had our Suzuki Ozarks for three years now. I just checked the tread on the rear tires and they are down to 10/32" These are the stock tires and they originally had 17/32" when new. The lugs are also much more rounded than when new. The front tires are wearing more slowly. They started with 16/32" and now are down to 11/32"

We haven't noticed a lack of traction and we haven't been stuck in the mud or anything but I was just wondering when most people replace their tires? Just eyeball it? Wait until we get stuck? Is their an unwritten rule on tread depth on a quad?

We usually ride muddy trails.
