Default Recon Performance?

I have a 2001 Honda Recon 250. It's all stock. I just ordered the CZR Pipe for it, thinking about a k&n air filter and a stage one jet kit. Does the jet kit and k&n air filter make a noticeable difference in power? Also, I was thinking about putting 250ex shocks on it for a little bit more travel but ive never met anyone who has tried this so im looking for some input before i go ahead and get them. Of course id love to just buy a 450r or 400ex instead of workin up my recon but i just graduated college and i gots loans to pay off before i buy a new quad. Any input would be great! thanks

Default Recon Performance?

When I put an aftermarket muffler on my Recon and a K&N it made a noticeable difference. I did however learn my lesson about K&Ns. Every time I would change the filter I would wipe the intake out with a clean white rag, and it was always dusty! I highly suggest the UNI foam filter instead.

One of the limiting factors for the Recon is the air intake. If you look at the opening on the snorkle, it is about the size of a quarter. You can enlarge it some, or vent the airbox lid with some round UNI vents (4 vents), but don't push it to far, because the little engine can only handle so much air. To much air, and it won't jet right.

Note, that is you run in water and mud, don't do the lid venting option!
