Who has had experience with aftermarket air
filters and could tell me which ones work and
which ones don't? Any other comments on air
filters would be appreciated. Yes, we do have
sand in the ranch country of eastern Montana.

I like the dual stage Uni-filter best. There are previous posts in the archives supporting the Uni-Filter. I also use a filter sock when the sand is real dry and blowing around alot. The primary thing is to make "certain" that the filter is installed flush to the airbox. And use filter grease to protect the seal to the airbox.

For sand, go with the K & N filter with an outer wear. Don't run the filter without the outwear. I run this set-up and never had a problem with sand getting into the engine.

Twin-Air, Uni, or Moose for sandy or dusty conditions. Stay away from K&N if riding in those areas, it does not filter near as good as the others I just listed.
