Default Good mud tire

My last two sets of tires have been Swamplites, and though I like them, I figure I want to try something different. Looking for a more mud oriented tire. Had the Mudlites and they were terrible so now I am looking at these three tires: Interco Vampires, Kenda Executioner, and the Maxxis Zilla..
The only bad thing I heard of the three so far is that the Kenda's are like the Mudlites. They are shorter than advertised.
Anyone else have experience or know of anyone with experience of these three tires?
Thanks in advance
Buck

The Maxxis tites are a ZILLA which isn't the same as the mudzilla. Cheaper and lighter. Just don't know if I've ever heard of anyone running them

Lots of guys run Zilla's. They are a very good all arounder. You would certainly like them ,but they aren't a huge upgrade in mud from what you have now. If you want more mud capabilities than your SL's here are the options in basic order of mud capabilities:

Outlaw
Silverback
EDL
Vampires
Bi and Tri combo
Mudzilla/MudBitch
MST
Mud Bug/Gator
Mud Hog
Swamp Witch
589
Executioners
Swamp Fox Plus
Mud Wolf
Zilla
There are others as well.

Of the ones you mentioned you would be the most happy with Vampires (not the EDL's or ASX's). They have the best mud capabilities of the 3. The Vamps and Executioners both run short and the Execs are very heavy.

I have been considering the Maxxis Bighorn for the longest time as the replacement tire for my quad once the Stockers start getting me stuck / etc... but now I am strongly considering the Maxxis Zilla

We will see.... my stockers still have another 400-500 miles left on them.. I wish I could just drop the $300-$400... but not in this economy...

I like the Mudlites. Did you have the regular Mudlite AT with the 3/4" lug or the much more agrassive XLs with the 1 1/8" lugs?

Big difference between the two.

I had the 26" XL Mudlite. I think the problem is that in this area there is alot of shale and my sidewalls were sliced constantly. I will give them one thing, they plugged well! I had six plugs in one sidewall and I believe I had 5 in the ohter sidewall. and they lasted awhile even after the plugs-lol

Big Horns, ARE NOT a mud tire you only need to run a big horn if you are going to stay on the trails. The Zillas are more agressive in the mud than the Swamplites. Vampires do not have 1 1/2" lugs they only have about 1 1/8".</end quote></div>

Yea, you are correct the Big Horns are not a mud tire. but I made the suggestion because if he is in Rocky terrain there is no tire better than the Big Horns...

I was with you on that one. There are some 8-ply tires out there too. The new ITP TerraCross R/T XD should be even better than the Bighorn. Spartacus, Dirt Commander, and Grim Reaper, all made by GBC Motorsports (Greenball). There may be others too. And the Spartacus is a mud tire. http://www.gbcmotorsports.com/products/spartacus.aspx If I was riding mud and rocks I'd get that one. Since my friends are all afraid to go muddin' with me I'd rather have Bighorns or Terracross and stay on the trail.
