MudLite Tires
#1
Which tire is better? I am not sure which one to buy! I currently have a 04 Kodiak 450 with 25 8 X 12 and 25 10 X 12 Mudlites AT's. I currently have an EPI Clutch Kit on it and I thinking about buying 26's Mudlites XL's.
Any Suggestions would be help.
Thanks,
Chris

I think you will be more than fine on that. Mud lite xl are some nice tires and ride really good. Buddy of mine just put 27 x 10 all the way around on his foreman and the only complaint he has is that on hill climbs where you want alittle wheel spin, they will just hook up. They were going everywhere the vampires where going in the mud holes, except it took him alittle more work to get through it, but he didn't break a shaft like two of the vamp guys did.

when i was riddin utility bikes most of had the mudlights , one had the 589s , we all loved the mudlights & they didnt seem to rob as much power as the 589s did , they took us anywhere we pointed our bikes and was able to hold on the bigger ones had alot deeper cleats and cleaned their selves good

I have just heard from my atv mechanic that Mudlite is bringing out a new line of Mudlites in Feburary. I guess they are going to change the Mudlites AT's and XL to make them even lighter.

i think the ats are radial, which arent as good for the mud.. but the bigger the better</end quote></div>
Not true radials leave a bigger footprint in the mud meaning more traction.

1. they have 2 new mudlites, the mudlite XTR and the mudlite XXL (30'' only)
Honestly, the mudlite XL's are a very good tire. you can see them in action when i first got them at www.youtube.com/motorhead9512
The AT's i would assume would be smoother on the trails but the XL's are really smooth aswell. mud performance is great, since ive got the mudlites ive only had to use my winch twice and it was when i was high centered on some ice. like stated before, when you want them to spin they will just hook up and take you on. But you can still spin them going up hills, muddy trails, mud holes etc. Me and my dad ( 03 wolverine and 03 big bear[both have mudlite XL's]) going down a slip n' slide trail ( about 2 inches of wet mud on top of the ground ) just going down the trail the XL's tore them up, mud was flying everywhere. But, we could still whip the back ends out if we wanted.

I have 4 ITP Mudlites for sale. (2) 28x12x12 and (2) 28x10x12. They have only been ridden on 3 short rides and never on pavement. There are no holes plugs or anything wrong with them. They have about 95% tread left or better. I have pictures as well. If interested email me at hjlancas@olemiss.edu

I had a set of 25" mudlites. Great trail tire, bad mud tire. they can handle light mud. Put them in some deep mud and they just spin. I never had a larger size in the mudlites so I can't say how they would be.
But on a 450 with clutch work done to it, I would say go for 27 or 28's. My kodiak spins my 28" zilla's fine. In deep mud it will dog down in high range, but in low range it spins them with ease.
