ITP Holeshot ATR Questions
#1
First of all any opinions on users of these tires would be appreciated. We ride mainly moderate to more difficult terrain, and enjoy a lot of mud. Not enough to need big lugged mud tires though. The reason I ask is I am interested in a Can-Am Renegade, which has these stock, and I am wondering how they stack up against my current Arctic Cat 400's Goodyear Rawhide RSes. The Rawhides are excellent tires and have never let me down in the much, any comparisons of the two would be great, or pros and cons of the ATRs please. Thank you in advance.

I ran them for many years on my Ranchers. Got them primarily because they are radials. The ride is excellent!!! They have a good all-around tread pattern, and the fronts are especially superb. They love hardpack and hold up well in sharp rocky terrain. They don't do so well in deep sand, and can't comment on mud seeing it doesn't exist here. But, snow is where they are absolutely at their best! They float you right up on top of everything.
Like I said, I ran them for years, but after my last pair wore out I put the stock tires and rims back on (stockers had been sitting in the shed unused for years, so they are like new). Know what, for summer riding in the mountains I actually prefer the stockers! The big ATR's make the steering fight you, kind of like having lockers. I will only run the ATR's again, for winter mountain snow riding.
The huge tire craze, is kind of out of hand. The benefits are more imaginary than real, and motly big tires feed folks egos. For a 400 class machine, proced with caution!

I've had these on my 500 sportsman for 5 years, i replaced a set of 589's, these tires have better traction both dry and wet, mud or rocks than any other tire i've used.
If they made them in a 14" i'd be putting them on my new 850

ITP XTR are excellent tires. One of the most popular aftermarket tires on the market. I have had two sets of ITPs and have found the quality to be top notch and ride of the radial is unbelievable.

my opinion is somewhat of a contrast to those posted above. i own an 08 renegade x with just over 400 miles. i have over 10 plugs in the rear tires alone. the ride is great, traction is good - unless you're in mud, then it's only adequate. they are supposedly 6 ply, but the sidewalls are very prone to puncture. i have over 4K on my foreman, been through several sets of tires (because of wear) and i've only put a handful of plugs in them. the terrain here is rough, but IMO the holeshots are a weak compound and should be avoided if you're going to encounter any rocks.
