Default Oil Change Frequency

My wife's family has a quad that sits for 8 months out of the year and is ridden mainly in the summer. If you go by engine hours, it is no where near an oil change but what about time? For a quad that sees limited use, when should the oil be changed? I imagine oil has some sort of shelf life.

Thank you.

Old oil will attract moisture and make sludge eventually. I would change it once a year to be on the safe side.

I barely ever ride mine these days. I try to do it once a year myself. Sometimes it goes longer, sometimes shorter.

You can go longer with full synthetic vs dinosaur oil.
