Question 95 Sportsman 400 4x4 piston

Hello again . Took my reed valve off and saw a missing piece of piston skirt. Would like to remove myself any advice?

If you don't have a manual download this pdf and look it over.Index of /ORV Manuals/Polaris/1985-1995 - All Models
Broken skirts usually leave ground up aluminum in the lower end crank and rod bearings. Sometimes you can get away with just flushing the engine out with kerosene, but if it doesn't you could be wasting your $ on just a new top end. If there is any play on the rod(up and down) a new rod kit and crank bearings will need to be installed.Just my old opinion again,I would only do a complete top/bottom rebuild on an old two stroke. Quite a lot to this engine as to parts involved in just taking it apart..http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...1995&fveh=5398
