How do you know when your front shocks are shot?

I have 400EX A-arms and 250R Works Double rate shocks on the front of my 300EX. I was wondering what it feels like when the shocks go bad? Im not sure if mine are bad or not. Is there anything I should be looking for? Thanx alot

When you jump your quad, you will find it bottoms out a lot more often and it will handle the corners poorly. Also you may find oil leaking out past your cylinder rods. That's a good indication that your shocks are shot.

Cylinder Rods? You mean if there is oil coming out between where the shaft goes into the body of the shock? Thanx for ur info man, its appreciated

Yeah thats what hes talking about. You are really the only one who can tell when they are getting bad. It seems like they get SOFT, for lack of a better word. You don't always get the oil around the shaft, sometimes you just wear out the fluid.

How much does it usually cost to have your front shocks rebuilt? How much do new springs cost? Thanx

it could range from 75 to 150 do it and new spring around 90 depending who you go to.....

Another way to tell if your shocks are blown is to push down on them and if they go down easily and spring back up very quickly.
