It will get around enough to be fun. My wife rode a Suzuki Quadsport 250 4 stroke for years in the sand, pretty comparable machine I suppose. Worked well, and a nice trail bike. Get a pipe and open the airbox because you will want all the breathing you can get. Let 'er rip!

My cousin has one ported and polished and bored out to about a 315 or something and it runs close with my z400. I'd say you'll have some good fun on it and later maybe you can hop it up a little bit, God bless.

I ride the silver lake dunes in michigan.
A 250x will make it around but it might be tough to make it up the bigger hills, might help to have paddles.
I started on a 225 yamaha 3-wheeler with nobbie tires and had a lot of fun.

In ' 95, I rode in Silver Lake with some guys, and one had a 250x with Maxxis Sur Tracs on the back, flipped to the sand/snow direction, and he had a blast, roosting up the dunes, sliding on the top, etc. Sure,he couldn't keep up with the Banshee in the group, but neither could I !!! I never heard him complain about lack of power, but he was a smaller guy, you didn't say how tall / heavy you were,so I can't say how it will haul you around.
