#1
Hey everyone!! I just received this email from Jim Suty from "Friends of Oceano Dunes". THE TEMPORARY FENCING IS COMING DOWN at Pismo!!!! They are in need of volunteers to help take down the fencing the weekend of Oct. 3&4. I am hoping to be there to help...and thought I'd let everyone else know in case anyone was interested in helping OPEN UP MORE RIDING SPACE!! We complained when it went up.. now let's get out there and TAKE IT DOWN!!!If you can help, email Jim at jimsuty@earthlink.net.....Here's the email from Jim.............
Friends,
The 2003 Snowy Plover season is coming to an end at the ODSVRA and we are in
need of volunteers to help TAKE DOWN fences.
State Parks will begin taking down fences on Oct 1, but due to budget
constraints they need our help. State parks would like volunteers to help in
taking down the fences on Oct 3 & 4.
I will get more details on when and where etc to meet, but would like to start
getting a head count of who can help.
Please tell your friends and let me know if you can help 1 or 2 days.
The work involves taking fences down and rolling up the fence material. It is
dirty work, but REWARDING!

The fencing that is coming down is the temporary fencing that was put up right after the 4th of July for the Snowy Plover. It is the fencing that starts down around pole 6. It will stay down until next July....We're gonna make a day trip down to take down the fencing... hope to see alot of people out there!!!!

if u were takin all the fencing down i would definately help u. i prefer to ride in the dunes, not on the beach, so that lil area they fenced off doesn't really affect me. have fun workin, i'll send a roost ur way.

I prefer to ride the dunes as well....but fencing is fencing... and it needs to come down...I camped on the beach after the beach area closure and I can tell you it was much more crowded since more of the beach had been closed. We complain when fencing goes up and really shouldn't be concerned where the fencing is that is coming down.. sorry.. just my $.02 cents worth. What does that show the BLM when they ask for our assistance in removing fences, and no one shows up???

I'm surprised more people arent willing to help, if I lived out there or was remotely close to the area, I would be there helping.
I assume the friends of oceana dunes will be there?
Hope it goes well for you and even if it is a small victory it is a victory none the less.

Oh sorry, just re read the original post and saw that the Friends are the ones looking for volunteers.
Anyway good luck again and hope it goes well
Hey, if any of you guys ride this area, you need to be there showing support. You can bet your bottom that if it were fencing going up the sierra club and other enviro's would be out there putting it up.
