Bad News
Ok i was riding my YFZ at the dunes and all of a sudden i need to shift into 1st gear. so after i get on the flats i go to shift when i did that i hit neutral. i didnt think anything of it but when i shifted it again (to go into 2nd gear it went into 3rd) it kinda lugged. i didint really think anything of it until i started to hear a rattling noise. after that i got scared. well then it would shift into neutral. After that i was scared so i headed back to camp. well i was in 4th gear and all of a sudden it felt like my chain was slipping so i looked down and my chain was fine. now i can only shift into one gear. So talked to my friend that is a mechanic and he said my tranny is prob fried. So that goes to show how beefy yamahas trannys are. i hope this isnt a bigg problem. i also have ALOT of hours on my YFZ so it might happen to all of you. I will keep you all posted on how the dealer takes it and what went wrong. man am i pissed off

Sandman12, Sorry to hear that. I hope it isn't major. And i hope you get it fixed. If you have to have the motor all torn apart, you might as well take advantage of it while it's apart. Maybe throw in the YZ dirt bike crank or something. or even some of that top secret stuff.....

No, not alky and iam not talking about Methanol i am talking about Ethanol. it is suppoesed to be 115 octane and puts out 8% more power than race gas. they say you cant tell the difference between Ethanol and alky. the good thing about ethanol is that it only costs about 1.50 a gallon.
