Default What dunes would you ride if you could?

I have ridden oregon dunes, glamis, dumont, st. anthony, sand mtn NV, and pismo and BY FAR St. Anthony is the best dunes around. Glamis is bigger but st. anthony's dunes are just so smooth and uncrowded. We went there for a week this last summer. Even the hottest time of the year it never gets above 100 and is usually in the 80's. We are going back in early june this year for a week. Sean

I have been to all the dunes in the west. St. Anthony and Littel Saraha Utah are lame. They have no 700' hills, no 250' bowls, no camping, and the weather is always crappy. Don't waste you time ...........lol

He was joking, trying to keep people from knowing how big and great St.Anthonys is. You know some places just belong to the choosen. So forget the pictures they are all optical illussions. Just a little sand box in Idaho. Go withe the big crowds in California. You know more people is better lots more exhaust to breath, people to dodge etc.

there are a small set of dunes in Idaho called "lake chanel" they are small but, they are down through a sunken lava tube. some of them go up the side of the lava wall amost to the top. you can jump down into it off the top. its between amercan falls and burley/rupert area. anybody else been there? I still would have to say st. anthony is the best as far as dunes that you can acually ride on. oregon dunes are nice. but they are meager compared to the bowls and hills at st. a

Are those dunes open to ride, and about how large an area is it? Sounds like a good side trip on the way to Sand Mountain.
