What will be the repercussions of a decision in this matter???
I fear the potential for big problems arising from this. For example, tax payers will be the ones that pay for the settlement in this case. Also, will there be closures due to lack of manpower if the Sherriffs decide to strip the BLM of their power??
I feel horrible for this kid and this incident is an attrocity. I fear, however, that decision makers could decide to completely eliminate the possibility of a similar confriontation rather than dealing with the issue at hand.
I, personally, can't wait to see what happens.

The Bear is frowning on this. My last trip to Glamis, I was sad to say that I, myself, met one of Imperial County's finest. I was NOT impressed. I did not reveal who I was until it was over and I had a citation in my pocket.
I paid the $113 citation, that I did not have a problem with. But the behavior, tone and lack of professionalism I received for the $113 was what disgusted me. Being ordered off the bike and onto the hood of the patrol truck was about the last straw after being told that "I was old enough to know better, wear my helmet to the pi$$er!" Hey guys, pi$$ all over that desert. Fine with me!
You can imagine, myself being a State Trooper, I was a really unpleasant person to stop. I flashed gang signals, talked back and was a complete $hit head. NOT! Being treated like I was, I was embarrased for Law Enforcement.
I write more tickets than anyone else in my office. But I also get more thankyou's and kind letters than anyone in my office. I use this as my gauge for service quality. If I hand a $237.00 citation to someone and I dont get a thankyou from 90% of the public I ticket, then I am doing something wrong.
I apply that to a State Trooper being contacted by a sand deputy. Did I thank him? Purposefully NOT! But I did tell him after the offer was made and the statement...... "Oh man, why didnt you just tell me you were a cop! Give that back to me, Ill take care of it for you" ".....Darn right you will, turn it in to your Sergeant and let it go to the court for me to pay it!" I would also like to think that if he was getting his a$$ kicked by someone, that the person, any person, that he just gave a ticket to would gladly come and help save his bacon. I still would have, but thats because he was a fellow officer.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Its a thin blue line out there for some of us. Some of our fellow brothers in Law enforcement make that dang thin line even thinner.....................
Please support your LE officer. We are not all bad. And some are Bigger than others, in many ways.....

PS. I honestly did not know Glamis had a helmet law. Check your local regs and know them. That is why I had no problem paying the ticket. It was my responsibility to know the law and I failed to do so.

It's hard to know all the laws and they are always adding more. In this area, there are still laws on the books that make it illegal to hang underwear out on a clothes line. Now, they don't pass tickets out but they could. It really is impossible to know all the laws. You'd have to be a lawyer and even then it would require some assistants to keep up on the new laws.

Amazing what happens out of a traffic stop for a broken tail light sometimes. Drunks. Drugs. Sex Offenders.Warrants. But sounds like you were a decent guy and he was on to look for something else. Sorry your encounter left you sour, Ride safe.
