The Fee at Imperial Dunes...?
#1
I have gone to Glamis and buttercup so many times I have lost count when I was a kid, but I had not been there in many years since my family stoped going. I have been going every month or so for about 6 months and I never see anybody at the fee stations. I havent been there on any big weekends but I havent had anybody stop me and ask if I had a permit ether. Do you guys pay the fee? or just ignore it? Or do you all just have year passes? I'm not really happy about having to pay it but if it makes the dunes a safer and cleaner enviroment than I am all for that. It just sucks that every time you come in contact with the government there is always some kinda fee. Kinda makes you wonder what the hell our taxes are doing...
Any help or thoughts are always appreciated.
Thanks

I get the yearly pass at the beginning of the season. They have been clamping down on this real hard this year. You cannot leave sometimes w/out it. They would not let my wife in one time w/out it. $25 for a week, or $90 for the season. Seems ridiculous to me as well!

Do they not still have the free (non-fee) areas down beond wash 27 or so? I have been told that since they provide no services down that far (no toilets or water truck on dust contol) this area down to the closed area is free. That is where i go, Never had a ranger come by, even on the big weekends.

got away without paying several times. had to pay last time though. the ranger was offering me a reward for the guys who cut off the toll station with a plasma cutter and took it home for a suvineer, I wouldent turn them in If I new, I'd give them mad props.

It's just really crappy that you have to pay to ride at the dunes, but for what? The police? there paid through the taxes? The sh*ter? Screw it take it away. Water truck? what damn water truck... If the dunes get trash on them good people will go out there and do clean ups, and i'll be right there with em. Who really wants this? I don't know how to fight it other than not pay it and become a member of groups like the ASA. It just seems wrong...

Don't become a member of the ASA if you plan on not paying, they will kick your cheap a$$ out real quick. I don't agree with the fees as well, but to not comply just fuels their fire and makes it worse. If you can't afford to pay the fee, then don't go!

And if you decide to not pay, "Just sign next to the "X", it's not an admission of guilt, just a promise to appear"
Oh Yea one more thing, " Have a nice day" as you pack up your belongings to leave.
