Coos Bay dunes report...

What an incredible weekend. It was brutal weather on Friday night - lots of wind and rain. Tough setting up camp in those conditions, but the 10'x10' cargo tent we just got helped a lot - especially with the propane heater inside. We did get one night ride in on Friday during a window of opportunity between rain/wind blasts. Night riding is too much fun and just what we needed to get the pissy attitude that comes from setting up camp in the rain out of our systems.
Saturday was heavy mist in morning, then dried up and just got better and better - beautiful sunny afternoon and great evening. Riding was excellent. Not too many people and everybody that was there was so damn happy. Shot some video of my neighbor jumping his motorcycle what had to be close to 100 feet - just kept going further and further. He tried to coach me with some jumping - took his jump and was only about 1-2 feet off the ground for about 20 feet, but had the feeling of weightlessness. I am slowly working on the jumping, need to build my confidence. Did some great wide open climbs, tree climbs, lots of everything. V8 was steeper at the top than I have ever seen it - quite the climb.
Sunday was 80 unbelievable degrees - I kid you not!!! It was absolutely hot out there. The beach was glorious. We were filming my neighbor some more on our way back from the beach when we discovered that my other buddy's fuel pump went out on his 97 Chevy 1500, extra cab pickup. That's right, we are in the middle of the dunes and this big rig won't start - uggghhhh!!! Long story short, we got it out of there, took the bed off the truck and changed the fuel pump right in the KOA parking lot - made our departure a little later than we had thought, but it all worked out. Got home at 11:00 pm, bed at midnight, too tired and sore to even go to work on Monday - d'oh!!!
I'll see if I can get some good still shots of the video to post. Maybe I'll even figure out how to make the video available.

Yeah, rub it in....I missed the sand last week. Put my new front tires on and didnt even get a chance to test them out. Bummer. Glad you had fun. Check out dunefest and look for me there. Ride-on.
